SSD Commercial Academy
SSD Commercial Academy is Edinburgh's leading Commercial Dance offering, specifically designed to push the boundaries of this hugely popular style of dance. For Primary 5s +, SSD Commercial Academy is a 3hr weekly offering at SSDHQ Dance Studios in Longstone. The 3hr session has been tailored to challenge students in the multiple dance styles that fall under the umbrella of Commercial, whilst allowing students to make new friends within a fun and inclusive environment for all abilities. SESSION 1 - COMMERCIAL WITH SIMON HUNTER Learning fresh Commercial choreography & developing performance skills, attitude and self-confidence. |
SESSION 2 - STREET & JAZZ FUNK WITH emma jardine Learning technique, strength and co-ordination through diverse Commercial styles and choreography. |
SESSION 3 - HIP HOP WITH AMY griffiths Exploring various styles including House, New Jack Swing and Waacking to name a few. Always current and fresh material. |
Classes are split by age and ability in order to allow students to reach their full potential
All students receive a free SSDCA t-shirt as uniform
All teachers are PVG registered, hold Public Liability Insurance and have vast and specific professional performing and teaching experience in the dancing industry. SSDCA is not inter-linked with the weekly Simon Says Dance classes.

Annual Music Video
Towards the end of each year, our Commercial Academy students usually have the FREE opportunity to participate in a fully-pledged music video at a hand-picked location in Edinburgh (or surrounding area!)
Students work towards the music video choreography in class then at the chosen venue, students perform their choreography whilst being filmed by a professional film crew. It's an amazing opportunity for the students to get involved with, allowing them to gain experience in a music video setting whilst getting an authentic insight into what Commercial Dance is used for in the performing world. It's definitely something to remember!
