ABOUT
Hip Hop Your Way is an inclusive dance class designed for children in P3–P7 (approximately 6.5–12 years) with additional support needs and disabilities who may benefit from a smaller class, additional support and a more flexible approach to learning dance.
Every child is encouraged to participate and move in a way that works for them. With a relaxed pace, clear instruction and plenty of encouragement, dancers are given the time and space they need to feel comfortable, confident and included.
Through hip hop inspired movement, music and creative activities, children can develop coordination, build confidence, express themselves and enjoy all the fun and benefits of dance - without the pressure of having to learn or participate in exactly the same way as everyone else.
Led by an experienced dance teacher in a smaller class environment, Hip Hop Your Way allows dancers to learn at their own pace, take breaks when they need them, connect with others and, most importantly, have fun!
IS HIP HOP YOUR WAY RIGHT FOR MY CHILD
Every child is different, and additional support needs can look very different from one dancer to another. Hip Hop Your Way may be a great fit for your child if they:
• Would enjoy dancing but may find a larger, faster-paced class overwhelming
• Benefit from a smaller group and a more relaxed pace
• Need instructions to be repeated, simplified or demonstrated
• Benefit from extra processing time, encouragement or reassurance
• Prefer a more predictable and flexible class environment
• May need to take a break or step away from an activity before joining back in
• Have differences in communication, coordination, attention, sensory processing or social interaction
• Would benefit from being able to participate and learn in their own way and at their own pace
Children should be able to participate safely within a small group environment with the support available from our teaching team. Please note that while our team will provide additional support and encouragement throughout the class, we are unable to provide dedicated 1:1 support, personal care or specialist medical care.
If you’re unsure whether Hip Hop Your Way would be suitable for your child, we’d be very happy to chat about their individual needs before booking. Please contact us at [email protected].
PARENTS, GUARDIANS & CARERS
As space within the studio is limited, we encourage parents and carers to drop off and return at the end of the class wherever their child is comfortable doing so. However, if your child requires continuous 1:1 support to participate safely and comfortably, a parent, guardian or carer is very welcome to remain with them and provide this support throughout the class.
If this applies to your child, please contact us before booking so that we can discuss their needs and plan our class capacity appropriately. Contact: [email protected]
VENUE ACCESS
On-street parking only at this venue. Ramp access is available into the premises with an accessible toilet. The class takes place within a ground-floor dance studio.
UNIFORM
Loose, comfortable clothing and trainers.
